How per-document pricing works.
The e-signature industry grew up around enterprise sales teams. A single contract was treated as a single billable unit, with an allowance (say, five envelopes a month) bundled into the base subscription and every additional envelope billed separately.
This pricing model made sense when the average customer was a Fortune 500 procurement department signing two contracts a quarter. It makes less sense when you’re a freelancer, agency, or small business that signs multiple contracts every week. The base subscription becomes a down payment on the overages.
What flat-rate pricing looks like.
SignFile Pro is $19/mo. That gets you unlimited documents, unlimited signers per document, unlimited reminders, and a complete audit trail for every signature. Whether you send five contracts a month or five hundred, the price is the same. There is no envelope counter running in the background.
This is possible because signing a PDF is, computationally, a cheap operation. The traditional pricing model wasn’t charging for compute — it was charging for the privilege of using the software. We don’t think that’s a fair trade for a small business.

Why do most e-signature services charge per document?
Per-document pricing (sometimes called “envelope” pricing) came from enterprise sales models where a contract or transaction was treated as a single billable unit. It works well when you’re sending two contracts a quarter. It gets expensive fast when you’re running a real business that signs multiple contracts a week.
What counts as a “document” on SignFile?
A document is one PDF you upload, send for signature, and complete. Whether it has one signer or ten, whether it takes a day or a month, it counts as one. Reminders, voiding, re-signing, and adding fields don’t add a second charge.
Is there a fair-use limit on SignFile?
There is no document cap on the Starter ($9/mo), Pro ($19/mo), or Team ($29/mo) plans. We do reserve the right to review accounts that send an unusual volume relative to a single user (an automated script, for example). For very high volume, contact us and we’ll work something out.
What if I send thousands of contracts a month?
