Every signed document ships with a downloadable audit certificate: signers, timestamps, IP addresses, user agents, and a SHA-256 hash of the final PDF. The data points courts typically require under the ESIGN Act.

Why we built it.
We came from regulated financial software — places where an audit trail isn’t a marketing feature, it’s a requirement. When we looked at the e-signature market we saw two failure modes: enterprise products priced and packaged for procurement departments, and consumer products that treated the audit trail as an afterthought.
SignFile is the product we wanted as a customer. A small business that signs ten contracts a month shouldn’t need a sales call to send them. A contractor who sends a client an NDA shouldn’t have to teach the client to create an account to prove the signature is real. A legal team that needs evidence in a dispute shouldn’t have to compile it manually from screenshots.
We don’t think SignFile is the right fit for every business. We try to be clear about who it is and isn’t for above. If it’s not for you, we’d rather you know upfront than find out after you’ve signed up.

Who is SignFile NOT for?
SignFile is not built for Fortune 500 procurement departments that need SSO with SAML, custom contract templates with conditional clauses, or 50+ seats in a single workspace. For those use cases, enterprise-grade e-signature platforms with dedicated account managers are a better fit. SignFile also doesn’t replace a CRM, contract lifecycle management (CLM) tool, or document automation platform — it does the signing step well and integrates with the tools around it.
How long has SignFile been around?
SignFile launched in 2025. It is built and operated by a small team that previously shipped regulated financial software — the audit trail and verification design reflects that background.
Can I switch from another e-signature service to SignFile?
Yes. SignFile accepts PDF uploads, so any document you can export from another service can be signed on SignFile. There is no migration tool — you’d re-send new documents on SignFile going forward. Old documents remain where they are; if you need historical signatures verified, our public verify page works on any SignFile-signed PDF regardless of when it was signed.
